A Comprehensive, Holistic Solution for Healing and Development

This OES Overview class presents a model of how to perceive and understand the wholeness that is at the core of each and every truly healthy person. Additionally it addresses how to recognize imbalances in the body that diminish this quality of wholeness, and to determine, in so far as possible, what combination of forces internally and/or externally are causing these imbalances. This class also studies how healing occurs in the body, and how to, through a penetrating understanding of the causes of ill health, suggest tangible, practical steps to rebalance all of a person’s organ systems and levels of functioning, so that his or her innate wholeness can grow and develop throughout life.

To summarize this introduction which is part one of this six part series:
We have investigated the essence of healing, key differences between allopathic and holistic approaches, and how it is the life force in every person that actually accomplishes the “healing.” We have studied how we evolved from single-celled organisms, outlined the levels of functioning that make up a human being (chemistry, structure, emotions, etc.), and looked at how these levels interconnect and operate upon one another. We have also identified the stages in any healing process. This is also akin to understanding what is possible in human growth and development—capacities that could be developed beyond purely physical growth. We have studied the nature of the brain and nervous system, and its proper balanced role in relationship to the other organs in the body.

Additionally we studied how our bodies process our experiences, and how we actually can change. We have delved into the question: how do I know—with any particular thing about myself—if it represents a positive skill or development, or if it is a protection, compensation, or other formation actually in the way of me developing my potential? This is a tough question, one quite necessary to ask, and very much at the heart of this introduction. To be able to ascertain this—to know what is set up right inside of each of us for who we are, and what is not (as consequences of less than perfect histories) and therefore needing to be reworked. The pathway to finding the truthful answer to this question is in the content of the rest of this introductory material and the exercises and practices suggested.

There are myriad philosophies, approaches, angles, and techniques that address each level of functioning in our bodies from diets, to forms of bodywork, to emotional therapies, to energy work and etheric work. With any problem or issue that is in the way of your own full, harmonious functioning, how do you know what to choose that will address the issue in the right part of you, and in the right way? Many of these approaches sound great because, in fact, they are—for SOME situations. To sort this out you need at least two things: (1) some background education in how the body works—which this course provides, and (2) training in self observation—how to observe yourself in detail—and in body sensing—how to deeply sense into yourself, perceive tiny changes in bodily sensations, and track these as your body responds to particular exercises and techniques.

Healing and personal development can occur spontaneously of course, but more often healing that lasts requires that a more intentional step-by-step strategy be directed toward a specific problem or issue. Even the best strategies often fail in the long run because a person is unable to assimilate the approach, or cannot fully internalize the change, not making it a part of himself, and therefore cannot “hold” the new condition. He slips back into his former state.

That is why in this OES Overview course there is such an emphasis on understanding the Grid and setting up a stabilizing environment or lifestyle. Such an environment can be healing in and of itself and through its efficiency create a surplus of energy for further healing. It also provides a framework for work on self to stick to or adhere. There is no question that good diet, exercise and recreation, quiet meditation, time in nature, and other self care practices are supportive and provide a foundation of essential nutrients for growth on higher levels. Over time having this foundation can change one from looking outside of self for something or someone to meet his needs into a person who is strong and secure within.

This introductory course presents several aspects of how to personally and practically create such an environment. Our organs become strong when we provide them with an optimal combination of each support and challenge. Generally modern life has too little support and too much challenge for most people to maintain and improve their health over the years. However, this is not always the case. It is entirely possible to have the opposite—too much support and too little challenge–and find health weakening as a result. Using the Grid, especially as we get into individual organs in future segments of this course, learning what weakens and strengthens individual organs, and most especially working with the lifestyle material provides an excellent starting point for creating a balanced environment in which healing can more readily occur, and equally important, be sustained. Our health can be built stronger and deeper over time.

We often look to intimate relationships to offer us an ideal supportive environment, thus pressuring those relationships to provide more than they can, and in effect, trashing what they do contribute. OES Overview helps to diffuse this pressure by (1) educating us to clearly identify what our needs are—based on an understanding of the laws governing our body/being, and (2) teaches us precisely step-by-step how to meet most of our needs without relying so heavily in this way on others.

Having worked steadily with clients for over 50 years between us, we are often struck by how many are in a survival mode in one way or another:  low energy exhausted by daily life, scraping by financially, deeply unhappy, feeling isolated, or overwhelmed by too much to do. The practices offered in this course can put a floor under each and every person, strengthening his organs through the levels, helping him to keep his energy cohered, and helping him learn about and fully apply his capacities. This is nowhere more important than in challenging and stressful times. So often have we seen clients and friends come apart in such situations rather than be able to take advantage of the growth opportunities presented when their lives become more difficult.

We had a few compelling reasons to offer this course:
•  to help clients to understand more fully our work with them
•  to give them more tools to help themselves
•  to help them feel more confident in taking on bigger challenges and projects
•  to help them develop a nurturing inner life
•  so they could have the satisfaction inherent in a life more completely engaged and lived.

We feel satisfied that this course provides the raw materials necessary, missing from our common, general education, to embark upon such a journey.  May it serve you well!
